Roleplay? [30 Apr 2007|12:38am]

impervection
[ mood | bored ]

This isn't someone pimping an existing RPG. This is me looking for one, or any single player who would like to play in the Kushiel-verse with me.

I've been looking for an RPG, or players for one-on-one roleplaying if I can't have a whole RPG that suits my taste, based on the Kushiel Legacy. I'm interested in both playing OCs, and characters from the anime (as long as it's not altogether AU).

Here's my problem: I have extremely particular preferences and this is a very small fandom. So I'm simply going to keep looking until I can find one/more players who like the same things I do. Which is why I thought I'd summarize what I like below and if someone happens to stumble across this post and thinks "hey, that's me!" you get back to me, okay?

Hi there Carey fans! I wanted to invite those of you who are
interested in roleplaying games as well as fantastic fantasy novels
(clearly you must be the second!) to come and join us on KushielMUX,
an interactive and immersive RPG that the author herself plugged on
her October website update!

KushielMUX is a roleplaying game based on the Kushiel's Legacy series,
where people interact via "poses" (essentially a paragraph of text
describing what your character is doing, thinking, saying, and so on)
and craft a niche for themselves in an interactive game world. You can
either download what's called a "MU* client" or "telnet client" or use
Telnet.exe itself, found in c:\windows (but the clients are much
better). Our Wiki holds a full and detailed explanation on how to
connect to the game and begin playing.

Our game, in specific, is high political intrigue mixed with large,
arcing plots and stories. It's set 150 years after the end of the
Kushiel's Legacy series. Things have changed somewhat - the Skaldi
have become slightly more civilized, the Caerdicci have become more
xenophobic, and there's a brewing war between the Hazaran (Mongols)
and the Hanzu (Chinese) that threatens to spill over into the West.
The last of the Courcel line has died out with whispers of scandal
attached, and a new royal family was just crowned to continue the the
country's tradition of monarchy. How well they will be received is
anyone's guess!

Interested in playing? It's incredibly fun and can be quite immersive.
Our Wikipedia page shows full and simple explanations on how to get
started and how to play, and there's a ton of help files in the game
itself. Our staff is also friendly and experienced, and will help you
with everything you need.

I came across Kushiel's Legacy one day when I was in the library. I guess you could say I was drawn to the book.

I don't know if I would call myself an anguisette or not, as Phedre herself can be a switch, though she finds more pleasure in pain. Mainly, I believe their saying "Love As Thou Wilt" more than anything.

Ironically, about 4 months before I picked up Kushiel's Dart, I found my magickal name, a name that is more personal and meaningful that my given, and it is Briar Rose (Raizel), and I was always planing on getting some sort of rose tattoo done. I will be fashoning a tattoo similar to Phedre's marquee, but it will hold more of who I am that of who she was.

Hullo to everyone.

Please allow me to introduce myself ... [02 Feb 2007|11:04am]

I came to the Kushiel series through the (livejournal) friend of a friend, and come to this community while introducing this book to yet another.

Hello.

Hello [01 Feb 2007|03:14pm]

lucifur79
I just realized I've been watching this community for quite some time but never officially joined.  So Hail and Well Met!   I consider myself a switch as opposed to being an actual anguisette.  As Nicola L'Envers put it, "I can play Valerian as well as Mandrake."  But I do prefer being submissive most of the time.
And as for this awesome series of books, they were a boon to me when I purchased Dart back in 2002.  Reading it helped me realize that I had been repressing a part of myself for a long time and for the wrong reasons.   I like how Ms. Carey really gets into the desciprtions and the settings, it adds an extra dimension for me as I'm reading.  I've since devoured the rest of the series many times over, and I'm eagerly awaiting the next book.

Thanks to whoever can supply me with this info, or to anyone who even tries.

Advice? [22 Jan 2007|02:25pm]

Okay, I have a tattoo on my lower back-I love it and I think it's great-it's about as close to a "marque" as I can get because it really is all about me and my life and what I plan on doing with it.

BUT, I want the classic "briar rose" somewhere on me-and I don't think it'd look good with my original tattoo on my back. I was thinking about having it placed down my side-kinda on my ribcage...And, I'm thinking of having the words "Love As Thou Wilt" scripted below it...Any thoughts?

My original tattoo and my options for the briar rose....In other words....Picture spam!Collapse )

I am new here and am extremely excited to see a community created for the Kushiel's series. I found them actually a little over a year and half ago and have been re reading them for like the third time. But I have found a song that I think fits Phedra the most but could fit the series in general. It's Josh Gorban's "Don't Give Up, You Are Loved." I was listening to it while reading Kushiel's Dart and just thought it fit really well.

Hi, new here.  I'm sooo excited that community exists!  I just finished the trilogy, & I absolutely love it.  I've been spreading it like crazy & forcing all my friends to read it.  Wah!

Also:  as per instructions, I confess:  I am quite the anguisette, which is one of the reasons the novels were so complleing to me --  it's the most positive depiction of my 'kind' as I've ever read, & it's nice to see the good publicity.

Thanks for creating this wonderful community!

Dance, laugh, and LOVE as thou wilt..... [22 Jul 2006|12:14am]

bluefalconchick
I don't know if I'm an anguissette. I suppose I am, however, I have met no others. I get pleasure from pain-but do not have to have pain to have pleasure, if that makes sense. I can get pleasure form the simplest of things-as stupid as it sounds, even slamming my finger in the door brings me some strange form of pleasure, and even emotional pain brings in a form of pleasure that I cannot control.

I was stamped as Valerian House by night_court.

So, here I am......Thinking that I'm possibly an anguissette, and since the moderators asked me, declaring it for all to see.

Here was my application for night court in case you guys want some extra information about me:

Behind a cut because it's pretty long and has a couple of pictures. Not dial-up friendly.Collapse )

[ mood | hopeful ]

Hello, posting about a message board which includes, among other things, forums for Fantasy and SciFi discussion, and has a forum specifically for Jacqueline Carey's works. (Other forums are for general discussion, political discussion, music, art, and RPing ... as yet, no Kushiel RPing, but there is a Fantasy-esque one.)
The board is called Eos Cormoranting, and the link is here: http://s13.invisionfree.com/Eos_Cormorantine

The board is still starting up, but I'm hoping for new members, and J.C. fans are welcome!

Connections. [21 Nov 2005|11:58pm]

hufflepest
Newb here, first time posting.

Read the trilogy several times. Waiting impatiently for Imriel. Right now, I'm actually writing a paper on how the Yeshua/Elua thing relates back to Biblical sources.

The more I look at it, the more amazed I am by the details Carey has put in. The Tsigani, for example. I looked up Romany (gypsies) and discovered that the French name for them is Tsigane. Way too close to be coincidence...

Lots of other things like that. Right now I'm trying to pin down all the locations. The main ones are obvious - Terre d'Ange=France, Alba=England, Caerdicca Unitas=Italy, etc. But I'm having problems with Bhodistan.

It's not on any of her maps in the beginning of the books. It's mentioned as being far away and paganistic, but that doesn't narrow it down much. A quick google search brings up India, which I suppose fits with both the early information and the expansion seen in Kushiel's Avatar. Does anyone else have any ideas?
